I am a photographer with a fine arts degree who made the transition from painting and printmaking to photography in the 1970’s. The inspiration for all my images has always come from nature, and since 1986 I have made a very successful career as a wildlife photographer, during which time I gained an international reputation. I have always tried to reflect my artistic training in my photographs, and when digital capture came of age, my images began to bring abstract elements to the fore, inspired by the line, tone, colour and texture that can be found with abundance in nature. This website will feature these images, the locations that originally inspired them, and the ideas that have led to their creation. |

The galleries showcase my pictures that explore various photographic techniques to find ways to express and transform the essence of nature. The choice of which image to capture is based intially on a visual response to abstract qualities and my emotional response to the environment in which they have evolved. All my images are taken in raw format and processed using Adobe Photoshop. Once the pictures are in the computer they begin a process of transformation into images in their own right without direct reference to the source. The degree of transition may vary so that in some cases their origins might be perceived, or in others the connection may be less obvious. |
